How can I transfer files between two computers?

I have downloaded tons off stuff on my Dad's PC. Now I want to transfer them to my laptop. Is it possible to connect them directly through Ethernet cables? I mean is it possible to jack in an ethernet cable in the two computers and somehow establish a network?

yes that's exactly how you do it! Attach the cord to each computer. Assuming you are using windows, click the start button in the corner, then click on my network places, finally click "set up a small or home office network" it is on the left side. Windows' Network Setup window will walk you through the rest.

Yes it is! Just use crossover cables to connect the two NICs directly.

You could also use straight ones and connect via a switch or hub.
yeah... with a router.. 1 o 1 on networking ;)
Yes its possible.

But the cable must be X-over not One-2-One

I have two computers and connected directly and i can transfar files, play network games with my brother and also.
I would use a device that is called Data Traveler. You can put your files in there, depending on how much it can hold. You can buy them at your nearest computer store or other store like BestBuy.
