A better way to switch between computers using one monitor?

I have a monitor with a digital(dvi) and analog(vga) connector. So i connected two of my pcs to it, one with a dvi connection and the other with a vga connection. If i want to switch to the other pc i just press a button on the monitor(i dont know what that button is called) and it switches between computers. But its kind of annoying to keep having to press the button is there anything out there that will let me switch, using a keyboard shortcut?

You can buy a KVM switch that will allow you to share a keyboard, video and mouse with multiple computers. It will also allow switching with the keyboard.

You could get a hardware based KVM to do this. Or you could use something like VNC to remote desktop into another computer and open that computer as a ''window'' on the ''main'' computer. If you are dealing with Windows you can turn on Remote Desktop and use that. On the target or ''remote'' Windows computer destkop right click MY COMPUTER and select PROPERTIES. Select the REMOTE tab. Select the ALLOW USERS TO CONNECT REMOTELY TO THIS COMPUTER.

From the MAIN computer create a new shortcut. The target should be MSTSC (stands for Microsoft Terminal Services Client). When you run this program there will be a CONNECT box and a place for the computer name. Enter the computer ''name'' or IP address. Click CONNECT. A screen should pop open showing the login at the remote computer. If you have it automatically logging in it should just prompt you for a password. If you don't have passwords setup, it will not let you remote to it until you do set one up.
