Hypothetical question on Gigabit ethernet connection between 2 computers?

If i have a Gigabit ethernet connection between 2 computers using category 5, 5e or 6 cable. What could be the potential problems that will cause my transmission to run below optimal level? (1Gb/s)

I'd say the most common problems that affect the speed are:

- ethernet card configuration, such as: frame size (google for ''jumbo frames''), speed/duplex mode

- quality and integrity of the network cable

- testing method - is it actually using your full transfer capacity? common issues would be: waiting for another device (such as a hard disk), inadequate buffering, inefficient transfer protocol

- OS networking code implementation (Windows is not particularly known as being very efficient)

may couse the slow speed if the limwire is runnning you shoulkd shut dow n the liime wire
i think you should re operate the wirring and check the enterpholemeum in the sertifeice drive.
Yeah pretty much anything else in the system can affect the performance. Typically it is the hard drive speed (cache, RPMs, etc) or the CPU cache. If it is a highly used server, it might be getting hung up on IO read/writes or something...well I guess not, since you are talking about 2 computers.
it should be ur system. yeah .... if the harddrive speed is less than ur network speed it cannot transfer in 1gb/s.

and even if the system is slow.

Hope it helps u ... !
