Personally I would not go to any superstore such as PC World for this! You only have to watch their advert talking about ''1 gigabyte of RAM memory'' to see they don't have a clue what they're talking about! If you didn't know, RAM stands for Random Access Memory.. So obviously RAM Memory is a dumb thing to say, but on par with PIN Number.

However, in an independant store you will find even the people out front know exactly what they're talking about because they are often the ones doing the work on the computers. You will probably learn a lot more and of course it will be more fun. And so I would recommend going to a smaller store that you don't see in national advertising. I would suggest buying the local freeads type paper to find someone, or even the yellow pages.

surely this is organised by your school? my grandson is starting work experience next week in a Vets as he wants to be a RSPCA officer - he had to have an informal interview at a careers place before applying to go to a vets and this had to be approved by the school.
Your school or collage should be helping you to organise it. Why dont you a letter saying that your looking for work experience to various comapnies in your area. Youl gain alot more experinence and knowledge working in a company than in PC world or another computer shop. I did work work experience for an oil company in their IT department and gained alot of knowledge. Good Luck!
